Gwen Sorwen

Gwen is a curvy pink dragoness who was the first character introduced in the very first Zoniverse story, Industrial Zone 1.

She was fascinated with gunge from a young age when she saw it on children's television and some of the evening shows that her dad Dafydd Sorwen watched. However, soon after discovering it she realized that her mum Gwyneth Sorwen was disgusted by it and so tried to hide her fascination, only stealing looks at slime-related television shows when she thought she wouldn't be disturbed. As a child, she was caught pretending she was taking part in the final gunge game of Spymaster she was watching on television, which heightened her embarrassment and drove her interest further into secrecy.

One of her favourite scenes she saw growing up was when Cindy Erebus was plucked out of the audience and gunged under a giant nose on the Saturday morning show Massive. Years later when her family gave her her own personal computer as a teenager, she lasted a few days before convincing herself nobody would notice her searching for "gunge" online. Among the various fan and fetish sites, she rediscovered many of the scenes that she remembered catching in the rare occasions she could when growing up. Cindy's scene was her favourite one to watch privately because of how similar she looked to her, and she enjoyed imagining herself in the seat in Cindy's place. She promised herself that despite her shyness, she would apply to take part if anything like the shows she loved growing up ever came back.

In 2102 her chance came with the debut of Industrial Zone, and she fulfilled her dream by appearing on the first episode of the second season in 2103 when she was 18. Her teammates were Rachel Westman, Cleo Acorn and Electra Quirk. After being disappointed by a couple of near misses at the start of their run, she found herself trapped in The Shuttle during a transition game with the others racing to save her. Lost in the fiction of the show that her craft was cut off from outside contact, she stripped herself in anticipation of her first gunging and had to be saved from her embarrassment by Alex Redwolf. During the rest of her appearance, she was also gunged in Cheese Chess, the Slimeulator (when it was still called The Ride) and the final slime chamber after their team failed to complete the final game in time.

Having left a great impression on the Industrial Zone team and having gained a lot more confidence in herself through her appearance on it, she was hired as an announcer for Industrial Zone Live, and tours with them during summers. She was hired quite late on in the live show's development but got to provide a bit of influence for how her favourite game The Shuttle was brought to the stage.

She is very close to Susi, whom she met after her Industrial Zone appearance and became one of her greatest friends and eventually a partner. His influence helped her continue to grow her confidence and believe in herself more. During her first year at university she experimented and was briefly involved with Kai Wong, but the two of them never clicked in anywhere near the same way that she did with Susi.

When she was 28 she got the chance to be gunged again by appearing on Fright Night with Isla Stornoway.

Influences

Gwen came into being in 2003 when Iron-K had a dream in which a plump pink dragoness was being covered in cream-coloured gunge in a large glass sphere. He wrote down the details of the dream and it eventually turned into a full scene, with the sphere eventually being replaced by the interior of a "shuttle" set to match the aesthetic of the whole show that was eventually built up around it. This was the first scene ever written for what was to become Industrial Zone.

Her discovery of gunge was very close to Iron-K's own, with it having been an awestruck interest that was driven into secrecy by other people's disapproval.
