Rish is an orange-furred squirrel who came out of university with a degree in chemistry. After working as a lab technician for only a few months, he was noticed by a visiting film crew who were making a documentary, for his bright personality and ability to explain things to them enthusiastically and accessibly. He became the face of the lab in the finished film, and a couple of years later he gained a wider following among children and teens by being selected as the youngest of a trio of presenters of a hit pop-science show called Lab Rats.

As a result of Lab Rats, he was tapped to host his own spinoff show Full Blast which is aimed at younger viewers, teaching them topics related to science through the use of slime, lasers, explosions, etc. From there, he was also Forth Television's first choice to present their vaguely science/environment-themed game show Cleanup Crew.

Rish's first name comes from a mangling of UK gearhead presenter Richard Hammond, a reference due to his hosting of children's show Blast Lab. However, his presenting style is closer to Nigel Mitchell who presented Twister - unlike his namesake, he does not make racist jokes or have any strange insecurities about ice cream.

"Lab Rats" is imagined to be roughly similar to the real-world Mythbusters.
