===== Friday Night Party ===== {{ :shows:fridaynightparty.png?nolink&500 |}} ==== History ==== Friday Night Party has been a mainstay of Friday night television for decades. Hosted by {zchar:rossi} since its start in 2084, it's a chat show set in a large manor house. Each week, Rossi interviews a selection of "house guests" who are usually television or sports personalities, musicians and so on, giving them a chance to promote their latest work and to have them participate in games with each other. {{:shows:fnpgungetank.jpg?nolink |}}In 2110 the show introduced a gunge tank to its repertoire, and at least one of the week's guests will find themselves in it per episode. It's decorated as an ornate antique-style wooden phone booth similar to the one shown here, and is mounted so that it can be brought on stage on a rail and then wheeled off with the gunged guest inside afterwards, so that they can be let out and cleaned up offstage. The gunge tank was first introduced specially for actress {zchar:cleo}'s appearance on the show - to call back to her appearance on {zshow:iz}, the Friday Night Party producers got in touch with the people responsible for its machinery to build a gunge machine for them. It's an elaborate contraption that can spray streams of slime into the booth from its top corners as well as the main gunge from above, and fills gradually with bubbly foam from the bottom as the gunge comes down similar to Industrial Zone's {zgame:the_mixer}. It's often decorated to match a theme for the guests or for the season the show is being recorded in. ==== Votes ==== Often, a pair of guests are potential victims for the gunge tank and the audience is asked to vote on who has to go in. Out-of-universe, these are conducted as real votes from readers of the stories - the first part of the story is posted, then votes are collected from commenters and tallied up to decide who is gunged. ==== Influences ==== The name of the show comes from Noel's House Party, but Rossi doesn't share the same prankster attitude - it's more similar to shows like Ellen Degeneres which have guests taking part in occasionally messy games. ==== Stories ==== {zshowstories:fnp}
