The Space Elevator is the way of getting to and from the Orbital Base from the Security Station. The team members each take a separate phone-box-sized pod for the journey. One team member's pod suffers a power failure and the remaining three team members have to save them by working out the combination to activate it again.

The combination has to be worked out by entering guesses and being told how many of them were right (but not which ones or in which order) each time. About halfway through the time limit of the game, gunge starts pouring into the chamber that glows under the ultra-violet light that's illuminating it. The pod will eventually fill to neck height if it isn't opened before time runs out.
